Clydesdale Bank PPI Claims & Brief History

Clydesdale bank was formed in Glasgow way back in 1838 and is the smallest of the three main Scottish banks, the other two being the Bank of Scotland and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The bank was independent until it was bought by Midland Bank in 1920 who then sold it on to current owners, the National Australia Bank (NAB) in 1987. The bank shares it’s license with another British NAB subsidiary, Yorkshire Bank.

Clydesdale Bank played a bigger part in the PPI scandal than it’s size would suggest, and with a bill of over £1.2 BILLION, it’s clear that a significant number of it’s customers are victims of the bank’s greed.

Indeed, the bank were issued with the biggest ever PPI fine at the time in April 2015, a whopping £20.7m.
